First day of spring

Once again, it's been a while since I've posted.  We have been enjoying a very mild winter here in Canmore.  It's been wonderful!!!!

Tobogganing with friends.  Love this picture and the big smiles!

Both the kids have been in Ski lessons this winter.  Madison has really loved them!  Though this is a picture of Evan, he's still a little young and hasn't really liked it all that much.  Next year!

We got a fat bike for Christmas...It was so much fun to be able to ride all of January...especially with the temperature being so mild.  I had knee surgery at the end of January, so my biking has been on hold, but Grant has still gotten out riding at least once a week.  We LOVE the fat bike!

What's a day without dressing up in Costumes.  Here is Evan as the HULK.

Madison has been taking ballet....She LOVES it...mostly because she gets to wear a frilly or pink costume and twirl!

Kids are getting big!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Well, 2014 is almost over....and what a great year it has been!  December has been full of family, activity, and lots of fresh air.  A few pics from December

A new present for Grant and Shannon...Alberta has really long winters...sometimes you need just one more option for a workout.  Super stoked to have this new winter toy.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and New Year.  Here's hoping that 2015 brings lots of adventures.

Mexico 2014

We went to Mexico from Nov 1-15th.  It was a really nice way to deal with the off season...hard to mountain bike but no snow to ski.  We went to Sayulita, Mexico (which is just north of Puerto Vallarta).  It was hot and sunny and so great to be on a beach holiday.  Madison and Evan spent almost every day in the pool.  By the time we left, Madison could jump in the deep end and "swim" to the edge.  We even got them both in the ocean...at first they were afraid of the waves, but after a few days, they were trying to body surf on the white wash.

We stayed in this awesome house with one of my best friends from university and her family.  We had the ocean and a pool...the perfect combination for the kids.

We happened to be there at the right time of the year.  The couple that owned a place beside us would help hatch baby turtles and then let them go into the ocean.

Here are the kids waiting for the next wave to body surf

Evan wasn't really that keen on learning to swim...but he loved this little floaty device, as it allowed him to go into the deep end by himself.

Typical family photo....madison making faces and Evan not looking at the camera until after the picture is taken!

Almost Halloween

Can't believe it's almost the end of October...where did the time go?  Life seems to be busy these days.  I am working part time, the kids are in daycare part time and Madison is in school in the afternoons.
Grant and I have been enjoying the nice fall weather (with the exception of the huge snowfall we got in sept, it's been a nice fall), by mountain biking as much as we can.  We leave on Nov 1 for 2 weeks in Mexico for a much needed family vacation with some good friends and their kids.  Sayulita here we come....little sun and surf...we can't wait.
Here are a few pictures of our adventures this fall.

A summer of fun

We've had a wonderful summer.  Lots of sun, biking, swimming, hikes and visitors.  We were so thrilled to have Grandma Fox come and stay in Canmore for a month.  Grant and I were able to spend a long weekend in Revelstoke mountain biking some amazing trails, and the kids have been able to spend some quality time with Grandma.

Loving summer

Did a hike with the kids today...first hike that they did all by themselves...we made a rule when we started that hiking meant that they don't get carried...they walk just like we do.  :)  After the first 100m they wanted to stop..so we filled up on food and started again...using flowers, pinecones and a promise of a cool waterfall as distractions to keep them moving.  After the waterfall, the trail gets really steep...it was their favorite part...Madison said it was like rock climbing (there were big rock stairs that they had to get up).  At the top of the hike was a gorgeous, crystal clear lake with fish that we could see coming to the surface to eat moths and bugs...truly fascinating for 2 young kids.  The whole trail was about 4km.

Last week when the weather was great, we went to the quarry almost every day.  We sure love where we live.
